OLD HARROW BARN
One of our notable previous projects involved the complete transformation of a large Tyler concrete frame agricultural barn into a stunning five-bedroom luxury residence. Originally constructed as a functional farm building, the structure presented a unique opportunity to create a distinctive countryside home while preserving the scale and character of the original agricultural architecture.
The project required careful planning, design, and structural consideration to sensitively convert the existing frame into a modern residential dwelling. The vision was to retain the impressive proportions of the barn while introducing contemporary design elements that would enhance natural light, space, and functionality for modern family living. A key feature of the conversion was maximising the dramatic internal volumes created by the original barn structure. Vaulted ceilings and exposed structural elements were incorporated into the design to celebrate the building’s heritage, while large glazed openings were introduced to flood the interior with natural light and provide uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside.
The finished home offers expansive open-plan living spaces, designed to create a natural flow between the kitchen, dining, and living areas—making the property ideal for both everyday living and entertaining. The accommodation includes five generously sized bedrooms, with the principal suite designed as a private retreat complete with dressing space and a luxury en-suite.
High-quality materials and finishes were used throughout the property, ensuring the home delivers both style and long-term durability. Attention to detail was a key part of the project, with a focus on craftsmanship and thoughtful design to ensure the finished property felt both contemporary and sympathetic to its rural setting.
The completed barn conversion now stands as a unique and high-end countryside home, successfully blending modern living with the character and scale of the original agricultural building. The project demonstrates the significant potential that agricultural structures can offer when carefully reimagined, creating homes that are both architecturally striking and highly functional.
